Pakistan batted out 117 overs comfortably to force a draw in the first Test against South Africa at Dubai.

Pakistan batted out 117 overs comfortably to force a draw in the first Test against South Africa at Dubai. Senior batsmen - Younis Khan with an unbeaten 131 (from 230 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes) and Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq with an unbeaten 76 (from 185 balls with 8 fours and a six) saved the match through their unbroken 4th wicket stand of 186-run stand. Younis Khan got the Man of the Match for his batting efforts in the second essay. Also playing a crucial role in the draw was no.3 batsman Azhar Ali who batted for 150 balls to score 63.

Pakistan were given a target of 451 with South Africa declaring their second innings at 318 for 2 in 95 overs. Both Hashim Amla (118* from 225 balls with 10 fours) and Jacques Kallis (135* from 218 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes) scored unbeaten centuries.

Update on Day 3

Morne Morkel captured 5 for 54 and Johan Botha took 3 for 61 as Pakistan collapsed to 248 all out on Day 3 of the first Test at Dubai. Pakistan have thus conceded a significant lead of 132 runs which has been converted to 271 with SA ending the day's play at 139 for 2 in 48 overs in their second essay.

Pakistan had started Day 3 at 144 for 2 lost their last 8 wickets with the addition of just the 104 runs before getting bowled out before Tea. By the close of play, SA have Hashim Amla batting nicely on an unbeaten 44 and Kallis is on an unbeaten 32.
