Pakistan have won the third Test at The Oval by four wickets after they were set a target of just 148. Skipper Salman Butt with 48, Imran Farhat with 33 and Mohammad Yousuf also with 33 helped Pakistan reach the target after crossing a few hurdles. The visitors were made to bat out 41.4 overs to reach their destination. Graeme Swann was the most successful bowler taking three wickets while Anderson got two.
England were earlier bowled out for 222 in their second innings with overnight batsman Stuart Broad falling in no time at the start of the fourth day. The Man of the Match award went to Mohammad Amir.
Day 3 Report
A superb return to form from Alastair Cook via a century was spoilt by the duo of Mohammad Amir and Saeed Ajmal as England slipped to 221 for 9 at the close of Day 3. The hosts are hanging in with a low second innings lead of 146 with the only hope being Stuart Broad's batting.
Resuming play at 6 for 1, England fought their way back into the Test through a solid 116-run stand for the 3rd wicket between Cook (110 from 173 balls with 17 fours) and Jonathan Trott (36). But the rest of the batting just fell apart as England lost six wickets for just 26 runs after Tea! Saeed Ajmal produced a few well disguised doosras which helped him clinch 4 for 71 in 31 overs. Mohammad Amir on the other hand was using his angles to good effect and his figures were even more outstanding at 18.2-5-51-4.
