In a healthy scoring match at Johannesburg, Royal Challengers Bangalore pulled off an exciting six-wicket win over Lions to clinch a berth in the Semi Finals. The match went down till the wire and the hero of the moment was young Virat Kohli who saw RCB home with an unbeaten 49 from 24 balls (with 4 fours and 2 sixes) to get the Man of the Match award. RCB chased the target of 160 with an over to spare.

RCB got off to a steady start with 53 in 8 overs before Rahul Dravid (33 from 26 balls) was the first batsman to be dismissed. His opening partner Manish Pandey batted well for his 36-ball 44 which set up the launching pad for RCB in the run chase. At 112 for 4 in 15 overs, the pressure was huge on RCB but they managed victory through the last recognized specialist batting pair of Kohli and Cameron White (19* from 12 balls).

In the first half of the match, led by Anil Kumble's 4-0-13-1, RCB restricted Lions down to 159 for 6 after losing the toss. Skipper and Opening batsman Alviro Petersen was the top scorer with 45 from 29 balls before getting his off stump cleaned up by Kumble.
