South Africa just managed to defeat Netherlands by 6 runs to stay alive in the ICC World T20 2014. After getting restricted to a below par total of 145 for 9, South Africa were in deep trouble as the Dutch got off to a superb opening stand.
However, Netherlands from 58 for no loss in the 6th over collapsed to 139 all out. Imran Tahir proved to be the match winner for South Africa taking 4 for 21. Dale Steyn bowled out his 4 overs giving only 19 runs while taking two wickets.
For the Dutch, opener Stephan Myburgh batted well for a 28-ball 51 with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Earlier in the afternoon, SA got off to a brisk start with Hashim Amla scoring 43 from 22 balls with 7 fours and a six. South Africa somehow lost wickets at regular intervals to come up with a modest total. Medium pacer Ahsan Malik captured 5 for 19 in his 4 overs for the Dutch.
Imran Tahir was the Man of the Match.
