Hosts Sydney Sixers defeated Melbourne Stars by a narrow margin of two runs in the KFC Big Bash Match today at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Batting first after winning the toss, Sydney Sixers were restricted to 166 for 9 in the allotted 20 Overs with Clint McKay and David Hussey taking two wickets each. For the Sydney Sixers, West Indian Dwayne Bravo, who was promoted as the opener top scored with a superb 52 from 34 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

In their run-chase, Melbourne Stars were pegged back by regular wickets. In the end, they had to be content with 164 for 8 which was two runs short of a victory. The top scorer for Melbourne Stars was the hard hitting David Hussey who got 42 from 30 balls with 5 fours and a six. Australian discard Adam Voges chipped in with 31 from 22 balls in the second half of the run chase but like Hussey couldn’t carry the Stars home.

Leggie Steven Smith who is also the Skipper of Sydney Sixers was the most successful bowler for his side taking 2 for 27 in 4 overs.
