Fast bowlers Tim Bresnan and Stuart Broad will battle it out in the county circuit, as English selectors look to pick one of the two pacers for the upcoming test series against India.

England's selectors will travel to Trent Bridge to see Broad play in the Nottinghamshire versus Somerset county match, and will also stop off at Scarborough where Bresnan will appear in his first four-day match of the summer for Yorkshire.

The choice between the Broad and Bresnan is England's only selection issue before they name the squad for the first Test against India next weekend.

Broad may get the go ahead for the first test after team director Andy Flower described him as having a great future for Englandand pointing out that by missing Old Trafford, he was able to rest his heel to ensure sharpness for the championship cricket.

"Broad has been a superb performer for us, a great competitor - and I foresee him doing great things for us in the future, both in this upcoming Test series and the one-day series," said Flower

Bresnan has played only one-day cricket this season since recovering from a calf strain. The selectors may want to see him prove his fitness over more than one championship match. However, he has strong support within the Englandmanagement, who like his stamina and control.
