Despite an embarrassing defeat in the hands of England inside four days in the Wankhede Test, the Selection Committee headed by Sandip Patil has retained the same squad for the Third Test at Kolkata.

Despite an embarrassing defeat in the hands of England inside four days in the Wankhede Test, the Selection Committee headed by Sandip Patil has retained the same squad for the Third Test at Kolkata. The only change if one can say is Umesh Yadav completely out of the team because of a back injury. The fast bowler has been advised a rest of 10 days. Ashok Dinda who was called as his cover in the Mumbai Test stays on in the squad.

The squad announced today is only for the Kolkata Test which could mean that the players will be closely watched in the Third Test by the Selectors and those who fail again are likely to be dropped for the final Test at Nagpur. The third Test will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from the 5th of next month. The Indian team will be having a break till the 2nd before they get together for the practice sessions in Kolkata.
