South Africa crushed Pakistan by 6 wickets in the first T20I at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Pakistan batting first after winning the toss collapsed to 119 all out in 19.5 overs with none of the batsmen staying long enough. Misbah-ul-Haq was the top scorer of this pale innings with an unbeaten 27 from 32 balls. Left arm quick Lonwabo Tsotsobe and off spinner Johan Botha picked up three wickets each.

The Proteas got the runs in 18.2 overs losing four wickets with the fourth wicket partnership of 66 between JP Duminy (41 from 46 balls) and Colin Ingram (46* from 38 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes) making things easy after an initial batting failure from the top order. Saeed Ajmal bowled well for Pakistan conceding only 18 runs in 4 overs besides taking a wicket. The Man of the Match surprisingly went to JP Duminy.
