Update at Stumps on Day 2
South Africa finished the second day's play at Centurion on 366 for 2 in 87 overs with Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis scoring unbeaten centuries. The two right handers are into an unbroken stand of 200 runs for the third wicket. They left India wicketless in the final session while adding up 130 runs in 32 overs.
India did take the second new ball as and when it was available but it only favoured the strokeplay of Amla and Kallis. India has now been pounded for a 230-run lead which is only expected to grow larger tomorrow. South Africa will be looking to bat for another two sessions atleast and then hunt for an innings victory.
Update at Tea on Day 2
The South African batsmen continued to make merry off the wafer-thin bowling attack of India to march towards a 100-run lead by Tea on Day 2. Hashim Amla has helped himself to a 19th Test fifty while Kallis has come out all guns blazing to score an attacking 42* from 53 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
India could only get one wicket in the afternoon session that of Alviro Petersen who was caught bat pad at short leg while trying to work a turning and bouncing off break from Harbhajan. Alviro Petersen missed out on a hundred as he got out on 77 (from 114 balls with 9 fours and a six). Amla has continued to blossom and is on 50* from 78 balls with 3 fours and a six. South Africa have cruised to 236 for 2 in 55 overs.
Update at Lunch on Day 2
South Africa cruised to Lunch on Day 2 at 111 for 1 in just 27 overs having bowled out India for 136. Not a single run was added to the total by MS Dhoni and India as Morne Morkel picked up a wicket in just the third ball of the morning to claim a five-wicket haul. Dhoni shuffling back was hit on the pad plumb infront by one that nipped back and stayed low.
The hosts then took charge of the Test Match with their opening batsmen - Smith and Petersen batting positively to put up a century stand. It was only a minute before Lunch that India found their success with the ball as Smith edged his cut shot off Harbhajan Singh to MS Dhoni. Smith scored a fluent 62 from 87 balls with 11 fours. His opening partner - Alviro Petersen moved to 45* in 74 balls with 5 fours and a six while Hashim Amla has batted out only the three balls before the break.
