The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced that the finalists for the inaugural World Test Championship will be decided on the basis of percentage of points earned by each side. The change to the ranking system was made following a recommendation by the ICC Cricket Committee, which is led by former India captain Anil Kumble.
Indian captain Virat Kohli and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma have retained the top two positions in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. They stand first and second respectively as per the latest ranking released on Wednesday. In Test matches, Australia’s number one batsman Steve Smith is still ruling charts, followed by Kohli and in-form Aussie Marnus Labuschagne. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are the other Indians in the Test Top 10.
As per the latest ICC rankings, Australia have climbed to number one in the Test rankings. It is a great achievement for Australia, and a culmination of some wonderful cricket after a few years of struggle
