Pakistan closed Day 2 of the Second and Final Test at Harare on 163 for 3 in 68 overs. The match has hardly moved forward today with the visitors batting pretty slow against an ordinary class bowling attack of Zimbabwe.
Younis Khan has been among Pakistan’s most consistent batsmen over the last decade or so. In fact, following the loss of Mohammad Yousuf and Inzamam-ul-Haw he has been the sole batsman with vast batting experience in the middle order.
The first Test at Harare between Zimbabwe and Pakistan is nicely poised with the visitors leading by 90 runs in their second innings with six wickets in hand. Pakistan recovered from a shaky position of 23 for 3 to end Day 3 at 168 for 4 in 70 overs. Zimbabwe did well to make Pakistan work hard for their runs.
A superb partnership between Younis Khan and Asad Shafiq rescued Pakistan to 253 for 5 on the opening day’s play of the Second Test at Newlands in Cape Town. Both the middle order batsmen scored centuries as Pakistan fought back to recover from a disastrous position of 33 for 4 after they were put into bat first by Graeme Smith.
Skipper MS Dhoni’s great century went in vain as Pakistan cruised to a 6-wicket win in the opening ODI at Chennai. Played under gloomy conditions, the First ODI started an hour late at 10:00 AM and went on and on until 6:00 PM under the floodlights!
Pakistan has named two squads – for the T20Is and the ODIs that will be played on their short tour of India later this month. The Selectors have made half a dozen changes each in both the T20I and the ODI Squads.
The selection of the Pakistan team for the three-match ODI series against Australia hasn’t thrown a lot of surprises. Yes, this holds true in spite of the fact that Younis Khan and Umar Gul, two seniormost members of the team, have been axed.
Pakistan have made as many as five changes to their ODI Squad which will play against Australia in a 3-match series starting this month end in the UAE. Younis Khan, who struggled to get going in the ODI Series in Sri Lanka has been axed while fast bowler Umar Gul surprisingly has been omitted.
