Seasoned all-rounder Abdul Razzaq on Saturday said his participation in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India as the first step towards Pakistani players eventually taking part in the Indian Premier League.

Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is jittery about obtaining an Indian visa to represent Leicestershire in next week's Champions League Twenty20 and has sought the English county's help in the matter.

Abdul Razzaq, who will be the only Pakistan player to participate in this year's Champions League Twenty20 in India, has said he hopes cricketing relations between India and Pakistan improve, with matches between the two countries resuming and Pakistan players being included in the IPL. Razzaq will play for Leicestershire in the Champions League, and will be only the second Pakistan player to play in the tournament - Yasir Araft played for Sussex in the first tournament in 2009.

Leicestershire, meanwhile, have all the 13 players who played for them in the Friends Life t20. Abdul Razzaq will be the only Pakistan player in the tournament, subject to him being successful in his visa application, after Pakistan's Twenty20 teams were overlooked.

Leicestershire and Somerset have qualified for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament after winning their respective England domestic T20 semi-finals via one-over eliminators at Edgbaston.
