With the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup all set to get underway in a little over a month's time, we take a look at some relevant statistics related to the World Cup. We begin with the top ten run-getters in the World Cup.

Sachin Tendulkar: The Indian legend has scored the most runs in the World Cup. In 45 matches, he scored 2278 runs at an average of 57 and a highest of 152. Tendulkar hit 6 hundreds and 15 fifties during his World Cup career. His strike rate was an impressive 89.

Ricky Ponting: The former Aussie skipper played 46 matches and scored 1743 runs at an average of 46 with a highest of 140 not out. Ponting hit five hundreds and six fifties in his World Cup career at a strike rate of 80.

Brian Lara: The West Indian great played 34 matches and scored 1225 runs at an average of 42 with a highest of 116. Lara hit two centuries and seven fifties in his World Cup career. His strike rate was 86.

Sanath Jayasuriya: The Sri Lankan played 38 games and scored 1165 runs at an average of 34. Jayasuriya's highest in the World Cup was 120. He hit three hundreds and six fifties at a strike rate of 90.6.

Jacques Kallis: The South African played 36 matches scoring 1148 runs at an average of 46. Kallis' highest score in the event is 128 not out. He hit one hundred and nine fifties at a strike rate of 74.

Adam Gilchrist: The Aussie played 31 matches and scored 1085 runs at an average of 36. Gilchrist's highest in the World Cup was 149. He smashed one hundred and eight fifties at an amazing strike rate of 98.

Javed Miandad: The Pakistan legend played 33 matches and scored 1083 runs at an average of 43. His highest score in the event was 103. Miandad hit one hundred and eight fifties at a strike rate of 68.

Stephen Fleming: The former Kiwi captain played 33 matches and scored 1075 runs at an average of 36. Fleming's highest in the event is 134 not out. He hit two hundreds and five fifties at a strike rate of 77.

Herschelle Gibbs: The former South African opener played 25 games and scored 1067 runs at an average of 56. His highest in the event is 143. Gibbs hit two hundreds and eight fifties in the World Cup at a strike rate of 87.3

Aravinda de Silva: The Sri Lankan legend played 35 games and scored 1064 runs at an average of 36.6. His highest score in the tournament is 145. De Silva hit two hundreds and six fifties in the World Cup at a strike rate of 86.5
