England wrapped up the 4th Test at Old Trafford inside three days after crushing India by an innings and 54 runs. Moeen Ali once again was the surprise for India taking four wickets in just 13 overs. India had a dramatic collapse in the final session losing as many as nine wickets in just 28 overs at the cost of 128.

Jimmy Anderson started the slide after Tea when his short ball down the legside had Gambhir (18) gloving it behind. Moeen Ali got two wickets in two overs – getting Cheteshwar Pujara (17) lbw with a sharp turning off break and then taking a diving catch off his bowling as Rahane (1) got a leading edge looking to whip him across the line. Anderson got his bunny Virat Kohli caught in the slips with yet another curvy outswinger.

India slipped to 61 for 5 and the end was very near. Jadeja was nicked out to slip by a turning ball from Moeen while Dhoni (27) looking to attack the same bowler was caught by the diving Ballance at mid wicket. The visitors were bundled out for 161 in 43 overs with the only saving grace being R Ashwin with a neat unbeaten 46.

The Man of the Match award went to the injured Stuart Broad for his destructive six-wicket haul in the first innings. England finished the Indian second innings in a hurry despite the absence of Stuart Broad.

Update at Tea on Day 3: After bowling out England for 367, India closed the afternoon session at 33 for 1 in 15 overs losing Murali Vijay. At Tea, India has got Gambhir on 12* along with Pujara who is on 3.

The highlight of the afternoon session was Stuart Broad getting smacked on his nose by a Varun Aaron bouncer. This was after the left-handed Broad had pulled Aaron for consecutive sixes. Looking to pull again, Broad was beaten for pace and ended up with a bleeding nose to retire hurt. The last English wicket fell with Jadeja trapping Anderson lbw. Chris Woakes remained unbeaten on 26 while England finished with a first innings lead of 215 runs.

India started pretty well with England bowling hampered by the absence of Broad. Murali Vijay scored 18 before he was defeated by a pacy inswinger from Woakes which had him lbw.

Update at Lunch on Day 3: England have consolidated their chances of winning the Manchester Test after stretching their first innings lead to 173 runs with still a couple of wickets in hand. Only two wickets fell in the morning session and they were grabbed by Pankaj Singh!

India did take the second new ball but it only cost them runs in a hurry. Pankaj Singh who has been desperate to get his maiden Test wicket finally got one when Joe Root nicked a bouncy ball down the legside to the keeper. Root was out for 77 (from 161 balls with 7 fours) and his partnership with Buttler was 134 for the 7th wicket.

Pankaj got his second wicket when Buttler smashed his slower one straight to mid off. Buttler by then had scored 70 with 10 fours from 130 balls. At lunch, England are 325 for 8 in 97 overs.
