Australia fast bowler Jackson Bird ruled out of India Series

Upcoming fast bowler Jackson Bird has flown back home from India with a stress injury in the back. Bird, who made his Test Debut against Sri Lanka recently was part of the Australian Squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series.

Upcoming fast bowler Jackson Bird has flown back home from India with a stress injury in the back. Bird, who made his Test Debut against Sri Lanka recently was part of the Australian Squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series. The Tasmanian fast bowler did not play in the first Test at Chennai with Australia having a surplus of quicks in their squad. Cricket Australia has stated that the 26-year-old Bird will not be re-join the team in India.

Bird has so far played two Tests against Sri Lanka and has started his career with a bang with a best of 7 for 117. No replacement has been named though for Bird by the Aussies with still three Tests matches to be played in the series. The visitors had earlier retained teenage left-arm spinner Ashton Agar in their Test Squad.
