As the main round of the Champions League T20 gets set to get underway, we look at some of the players to watch out for during the tournament.
Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians): Being the IPL champions, there would be plenty of hopes from Mumbai Indians, specifically their skipper Rohit Sharma. The extremely talented Mumbai batsman may not have flourished as per his talent at the international, but he definitely is a brilliant player in the T20 format. His performance was exceptional and he led from the front as Mumbai Indians laid their hands on the IPL title earlier this year. Sharma has all the big strokes in his kitty needed for the T20 format, which is what makes him extremely dangerous. Mumbai Indians have won the CLT20 before, and they would confident of doing well this time as well. A successful season for Sharma would help their cause no end.
Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings): Chennai have numerous match-winners in their armoury, which is why they have been such a consistent and highly dominating side in the T20 format. As always, Bravo will be among their key members as Chennai look to lay their hands on another T20 trophy. The experienced West Indies captain can be a match-turner with both the ball and the ball on his day. He possesses the ability to slam the big strokes, particularly the massive sixes in the slog overs. With the ball, his changes of pace are highly effective, and his slower ball has claimed many a good batsmen. Chennai would have plenty of hopes from Bravo again. With the kind of prowess at his disposal, he would be disappointed if he does not come up with the goods.
Kevon Cooper (Rajasthan Royals): Rahul Dravid-led Rajasthan aren’t the most talented of T20 sides, but they are a highly professional outfit, and this is evident in their results. One of key reasons for the same is some of their unheralded players have stood up and made a major difference. Cooper is definitely one of them. The medium pacer looks rather unassuming in his delivery stride, but he has delivered exceedingly well for Rajasthan. Cooper has turned matches on its head with his incisive bowling, and has quickly become a crucial member of the Rajasthan side.
AB De Villiers (Titans): The South African skipper is a brilliant T20 player. He has all the desired requisites needed for a great T20 player. Apart from being an aggressive batsman, de Villiers is a very swift runner between the wickets and an excellent fielder to top it. Of course, he hasn’t always excelled in T20, but has done enough to put opposition bowlers under pressure.
Sunil Narine (Trinidad & Tobago): That Narine is a match-winner in the T20 format is now a foregone conclusion. Few players have managed to read his mystery deliveries in T20 cricket till date; the list includes some highly reputed international cricketers as well. T &T will look up to Narine as their star player, as they hope to put up an impressive show.
