The second day’s play at the Gabba was washed out by torrential rain with not a single ball bowled. It is only after a long gap of 14 years that an entire day’s play has been lost in a Test Match played in Australia.

The second day’s play at the Gabba was washed out by torrential rain with not a single ball bowled. It is only after a long gap of 14 years that an entire day’s play has been lost in a Test Match played in Australia. The third day’s play which is expected to see bright sunshine will begin 30 minutes early. With an entire day’s play lost, this Test match could end up in a draw.

Rain Update in the Post Lunch Session: It is still raining at the Gabba in Brisbane. The entire morning session was washed out and now the second session is heading towards the same direction. The South African players are back in the comfort of their hotel rooms. And a few Aussie players are at the Stadium while in no hurry to get into their whites.

Rain Update at 5:20 AM IST: As forecasted, the rain has arrived in Brisbane for the second day of the opening Test at the Gabba. According to various sources in twitter, it is pouring down heavily at the Gabba. One of the source says it is torrential rain, so we are in for a long delay perhaps with play unlikely to begin atleast in the first hour.
