Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli on Monday warned his colleagues to follow the bio-secure bubble in IPL's first virtual meeting. The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League will be a different experience for everyone as it will be played in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, devoid of the large crowds synonymous with the T20 league.

“We have followed what’s been told to us and I would expect everyone to be on the same page in terms of securing the bubble at all times and making sure that nothing is compromised,” Kohli said in the meeting.

“Because I think one mistake by any one of us could literally spoil the whole tournament. And none of us want to do that.” RCB’s director of cricket operations Mike Hesson, added to a question by Kohli about breaking the strict rules in place.

“It (violation) will be dealt with very seriously. For accidental breach, players will be removed and sent into isolation for seven days and then come back only after he tests negative.

“There will be strong consequences if players chose to do that (break rules). Players will sign a document which explains the consequences,” Hesson revealed.

Kohli further stated that is very important for players to stay in the bubble. He also stated he is desperate to get started with the practice session, and develop a good team culture from the first day.

“I can’t wait to get to our first practice session, something that we all are going to cherish. An opportunity to create a good team culture from Day 1.

“For me it’s all about what can I do to create an environment where everyone feels a part of the team equally and everyone feels responsible for where we want to go equally,” the Team India and RCB captain asserted.

As of now the players in the UAE are undergoing the mandatory six-day quarantine period as per the Standard Operating Procedure put in place by the BCCI. RT-PCR tests are to be conducted on Day 1, 3 and 6 of the quarantine period. The players who test negative will make it to the tournament bio-bubble.

The rescheduled IPL will be held from September 19 to November 10, with 60 matches to be played across 53 days.
