Delhi Daredevils finally tasted their first victory of IPL 6 after thrashing Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets with 18 balls to spare this evening at the Feroz Shah Kotla. This is Delhi’s first victory which has come after a string of six defeats in a row!

Delhi Daredevils finally tasted their first victory of IPL 6 after thrashing Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets with 18 balls to spare this evening at the Feroz Shah Kotla. This is Delhi’s first victory which has come after a string of six defeats in a row! Virender Sehwag rediscovered his form to score an explosive 95* from 57 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes to help the Daredevils overpower Mumbai’s target of 162. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene who promoted himself as Sehwag’s opening partner scored a sweetly struck knock of 59 from 43 balls with 8 fours and a six.

Mumbai Indians batting first after winning the toss were pegged back at 22 for 2 in 5.1 overs before Rohit Sharma joined Sachin Tendulkar to bring the visitors back in the contest. Tendulkar who was lucky not to be caught and bowled by Shahbaz Nadeem came up with his best knock this season. Tendulkar finished with a 47-ball 54 (with 3 fours and 2 sixes) before getting out to Umesh Yadav in the 17th over.

Rohit Sharma played an absolute gem of an innings – scoring 73 from just 43 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes! Mumbai Indians as a result could get to 161 for 4 despite a modest start in the first half of their innings.
