The second day of the IPL auction in Bangalore was not as action packed as the first, and expectedly so since most of the big names had been taken on day one itself. Still, it was a good day for some unknown names especially from Indian domestic cricket, who bagged handsome contracts. Here’s more on the players who dominated the auction on day two.

Karn Sharma: He was the most expensive buy on day two, being purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 3.75 crore. Karn had played for Hyderabad last season as well. An all-rounder, who bats left-handed and is a leg spinner, has an impressive first class record. Still, he himself wouldn’t have expected such a high price. In 33 first-class matches, 64 wickets to his credit at an average of 29 with two five-wicket hauls. With the bat, he has scored close to 1000 runs averaging 25 with one hundred and six fifties. Being handy with both bat and ball, Hyderabad would be depending on Karn to deliver.

Rishi Dhawan: He was purchased by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 3 crore. A 23-year-old from Himachal Pradesh, Dhawan is an accomplished all- rounder at the domestic level. Having made his debut in 2009, Dhawan has 1539 runs to his credit in 33 first-class games at an average of 40.5 with three hundreds and 10 fifties. A right-arm medium fast bowler, he has grabbed an impressive haul of 145 wickets at an average of 24 with 12 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket match haul.

Kedar Jadhav: The experienced Maharashtra batsman has been purchased by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2 crore. Jadhav had an excellent run in Ranji Trophy this season, being one of the stars for his side which reached the final. Jadhav made hundreds against Goa, Andhra, Assam, Mumbai and even Karnataka in the final in a losing cause. The 28-year- old’s overall first-class record is also impressive. In 52 matches, he has scored 3671 runs averaging 50 with 10 hundreds and 13 fifties to go with it.

Beuran Hendricks: The fast bowler from South Africa has been purchased by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 1.8 crore. Hendricks was the leading wicket-taker in this year’s Ram Slam T20. Since making his domestic debut in 2010, Hendricks has turned out for top teams like Cape Cobras and the Western Province. In a career spanning 41 first-class games, Hendricks has claimed 158 wickets at an excellent average of 20.2 with 10 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket match haul.

Mayank Agarwal: The batsman has been purchased by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.6 crore. A 22-year-old from Bangalore, there was some hype around him when he was selected to play for RCB in 2011. But, while he impressed in phases, he was disappointing overall. He has got a couple of half-centuries for Karnataka this season. He is still a first- class rookie, having played only 8 games with three fifties to his credit.
