Can Sunrisers Hyderabad turn their IPL 2020 campaign around against Rajasthan Royals?

Published on: Oct 19, 2020

After consecutive defeats in their last three matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad have slipped to the second-last place in the points table with just six points from nine matches.

Hyderabad let valuable points slip away

Hyderabad were very close to winning their last encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders but let it slip away. Their bowlers did a fine job with Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan standing out. If you check out your cricket betting apps Shankar and Khan conceded just 20 and 28 runs from their four overs respectively and picked up one wicket each. T Natarajan, despite being a bit expensive, took two wickets as well, to restrict KKR to just 163 from their 20 overs.

Due to Kane Williamson's niggle, he was promoted to the top of the order and remains a doubtful starter for this match. Williamson did a fine job at the top, adding 29.

Jonny Bairstow also made 36 off 28 deliveries but after the dismissal of both the openers, the team lost quick wickets including those of Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey

David Warner came out to bat at number 4. Warner, who started slowly, remained at the crease till the end, unbeaten on 47 of 33 deliveries. He almost took Hyderabad to victory off the last over from Andre Russell but could not close it off as the match went into the super over, where Hyderabad lost.

Nabi likely to replace Williamson

With Kane Williamson injured, Hyderabad are likely to give an opportunity to Mohammad Nabi who has been warming the bench for a long time. With the likes of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner at the top, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar in the middle order and youngsters like Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad, Hyderabad will still have enough batting to do the job.

RR get the better of CSK

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, registered a 7-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings in the last game. The Rajasthan bowling has been the stronger suit for them and restricted Chennai to just 125 in their last match.

Jofra Archer was sensational for the side as always. Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia were extremely economical.

Steve Smith's move of dropping Jos Buttler at number five finally worked as he remained unbeaten on 70 off 48 deliveries to finish the game for Rajasthan.

Ben Stokes yet to fire

Rajasthan's big signing Ben Stokes has looked like a shadow of himself in the few matches that has played in the season till now. Runs are not flowing off his bat and he is looking a bit patchy. His bowling has been more useful but more than taking wickets, he has focused on keeping the runs dry.

Steve Smith struggled to even buy a run in the last match but somehow did not lose his wicket and finished the game. The team is expected to stick to its combination.
