Rain washed out most part of the Second Day’s play of the Only Test between New Zeanald and Zimbabwe at the McLean Park in Napier. Just the 15.2 overs were bowled a persistent shower settled down at Napier. New Zealand added 61 more runs to their overnight total of 331 for 5 without losing any more wickets. However, the hosts received a big blow when Skipper Ross Taylor retired hurt with a calf muscle strain.

Ross Taylor walked off the field with an unbeaten 122 (from 201 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes) and headed straight to a hospital to have his calf muscle scanned. On the field, the Kiwis had Wicket Keeper BJ Watling batting nicely on 52* (from 97 balls with 7 fours) along with Doug Bracewell who is on 11* before rain had cut short the day’s play.

New Zealand will look to take their total to 500 and look to bat only once in this Test Match for a possible innings victory. Zimbabwe will be pleased that that they have an opportunity to draw the Test match because of the possible weather interruptions.
