England will take on Pakistan in the Champions Trophy semi-final on Wednesday after they defeated Sri Lanka at Cardiff in a thrilling contest.
Pakistan chased down 237, but not before another collapse. They needed an unbeaten 75-run stand between skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Amir to see them through.
Speaking about the challenge of taking on England, Sarfraz said, “England are a world‑class team. They have been very good for the last two years. So we must play more positively against them,” he said while speaking to the media. “Today our bowlers did very well at crucial times, I’m concerned by our middle order but we will sit down tomorrow and sort those problems out.
“All credit goes to the bowlers, Junaid and Amir played very well. I’m very impressed with Fakhar too. He is a good prospect. I’m really boosted by my innings [61 not out],” he added.
Pakistan were lucky as Sri Lanka dropped Sarfraz twice off Lasith Malinga and even missed a few close run-outs. Pakistan would go into the match as underdogs, but Sarfraz believes it would help them play with freedom.
