Bangladesh who are scheduled to play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and a lone T20I in Sri Lanka are facing injury crisis to some of its players. Star player Shakib-Al-Hasan is already ruled out because of his surgery to his right calf muscle with a minimum of six weeks needed before he could return to cricket. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal is suffering from a wrist injury though he will try to recover before the Test Series.

Another opening batsman Shahriar Nafees has asked the Selectors to rest him from the Sri Lankan tour following a hand injury. Nafees has been replaced with the former Bangladesh Captain Mohammad Ashraful. Other players injured for Bangladesh are all-rounder Naeem Islam (quadriceps injury), left-arm spinner Enamul Haque jr (hamstring injury) and medium pacer Ziaur Rahman (shoulder injury).

It is no secret that all these players got injured because of the stress they took during the second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. Bangladesh still trying to find its feet in international cricket has got a new problem on its hand with its cricketers not able to sustain their fitness levels following heavy work load in the last two years. In another 8 days, the Tigers will play their first Test against Sri Lanka and with the lack of some key players could find it difficult to put up a contest against the Lions.

Bangladesh Test Squad for Sri Lanka: Mushfiqur Rahim (Captain), Mahmudullah (Vice-Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Ashraful, Anamul Haque, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abul Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Haque, Jahurul Islam, Mominul Haque, Shahadat Hossain, Robiul Islam
