Pune Warriors who lost their Captain Michael Clarke due to a back injury even before the IPL 6 has kicked off have named Angelo Mathews as their new Skipper. This move from Pune Warriors was expected as Angelo Mathews is also the new Captain of the Sri Lankan team in all formats of the game.

The Pune Warriors were led by former Indian Captain Sourav Ganguly last season. Ganguly who has retired from the IPL, Yuvraj Singh and Australian Steven Smith had led the Pune Warriors in the last two editions of the tournament.

The Warriors will have to do without their Captain Angelo Mathews when they play against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai following the IPL orders that no Sri Lankan players will be allowed in that city. Mathews is now the third Sri Lankan Captain in the IPL after Mahela Jayawardene leading the Delhi Daredevils while Kumar Sangakkara is in charge of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
