Mumbai Indians pulled off a sensational win against Knight Riders, by four wickets, at the Wankhede stadium on Sunday. Nitish Rana was the hero with a 29-ball 50 and Hardik Pandya 29 in 11 balls as the Mumbai pulled off a stunning victory.
Mumbai were chasing KKR's total of 178 for 7, centre d around Manish Pandey’s super b 47-ball 81. In reply, Mumbai slumped after a great start and were 119 for 5, before engineering the fightback.
Pandya hit the winning four towards long leg, in the last over after being dropped in the same over of Trent Boult. Needing 49 runs off the last three overs, in the 18th over by Boult, Rana and Pandya hit a six each, as 19 came off the over.
Rana fell for 50 in 28 balls, but Pandya carried on till the end. Earlier, openers Parthiv Patel (30) and Jos Buttler (28) put on 65 runs before Mumbai stumbled.
For KKR, Pandey stood out with five sixes and as many fours in his unbeaten 81. Openers Chris Lynn (32) and captain Gautam Gambhir (19) put on 44 runs in four overs before left arm spinner Krunal Pandya struck.
Krunal finished with figures of 3 for 24 and Lasith Malinga got 2 for 36. Rana and Pandya did the rest with the bat.
