Fourteen teams would take part in the initial stages, divided into two groups of 7. The 7 teams play each other once before the top 4 teams from each group qualifies for the quarter-finals.

The 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup will be the 11th ICC Cricket World Cup, and will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The location of the games will be evenly split, with the location of the final yet to be decided.

Fourteen teams would take part in the initial stages, divided into two groups of 7. The 7 teams play each other once before the top 4 teams from each group qualifies for the quarter-finals. The format ensures that a team gets to play a minimum of 6 matches even if they exit in the group stage.

The top two teams of the 2011–13 ICC Intercontinental Cup One-Day will qualify for the 2015 World Cup, with the remaining six teams joining the third and fourth-placed teams of 2011 ICC World Cricket League Division Two and the top two teams of 2013 ICC World Cricket League Division Three in a ten-team World Cup Qualifier to decide the remaining two places. The date and venue of the final qualifying event is yet to be decided.

The tournament will consist of the following 14 teams:

Full Members: Australia, England, New Zeland, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe

Affiliate Members: Two teams qualify from 2011–13 ICC Intercontinental Cup One-Day , Two teams qualify from 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier
