Pune Warriors clinched a thrilling win over defending Champions Chennai Super Kings at the houseful Subroto Roy Stadium in Pune. Opener Jesse Ryder produced his best in the IP with an unbeaten 73 from 56 balls with 7 fours and a six. It was a single handed effort from Ryder until Aussie Steven Smith came in and took the pressure off him in the climax with some superb shots.
Steven Smith carried Pune Warriors to the 7-wicket win by hitting a boundary and a six in the first two balls of the final over. Jesse Ryder got the Man of the Match for his heroic knock of 73*. For the CSK, R Ashwin bowled well conceding just 19 off his 4 overs. MS Dhoni blundered towards the end by giving the inexperienced Yo Mahesh the final over instead of Dwayne Bravo.
There were a couple of heated moments in the game when Jesse Ryder and Marlon Samuels batting together in the middle got upset with each other for some reason! Samuels played a poor innings consuming 15 balls for his 8 and got out just after an ugly moment with Ryder. The other incident took place when Ashwin warned Steven Smith of a Mankad Run Out. What followed was some heated arguments between Ashwin and Smith.
