England's limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan has claimed that he used the word 'sir' as a mark of respect in his old Twitter posts that recently went viral in the wake of the Ollie Robinson controversy. Morgan and wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler were accused of mocking English spoken by Indians in some old Twitter exchanges.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain has hailed New Zealand for their methodical approach after the Kiwis trumped the Englishmen by eight wickets in the Edgbaston Test on Sunday. The victory marked the Black Caps’ first Test series win in England since 1999. It was also England’s first Test series loss at home since 2014. According to Hussain, New Zealand were brilliant in both Test matches.
Veteran England pacer James Anderson has revealed that the team has accepted Ollie Robinson’s apology for posting ‘racist’ and ‘sexist’ tweets as a teenager. Now 27, Robinson made an impressive Test debut in the Lord’s Test against New Zealand, claiming seven wickets and scoring 42 runs. However, he has been suspended pending an investigation into his historical tweets.
Former Indian batsman Dilip Vengsarkar feels that the upcoming tour of England will be India’s best chance to win a series in England since they have a very good batting as well as bowling line-up. India will play six Tests during their tour of England, beginning with the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, followed by five Tests against the hosts. England fast bowler Jofra Archer, who recently underwent an elbow operation to deal with a long-standing problem, has said that he will not be rushing back to cricket. Archer stated that he wants to focus on being properly fit for the T20 World Cup as well as the Ashes towards the end of the year. The 26-year-old had his elbow surgery on May 21 and will now undergo a rehabilitation program to try and regain full fitness. Archer made a failed attempt at a comeback representing the Sussex 2nd XI and then the main Sussex team. His fitness though was found out.
England’s managing director Ashley Giles has confirmed that they have no plans to tweak their schedule to accommodate the IPL, which is likely to resume in the second half of September. Giles also reiterated that England players won’t be released for the second half of the IPL as the team priority comes first.

Shardul finished with figures of 4 for 67 in his 10 overs, dismissing Dawid Malan (50), England skipper Jos Buttler (15) and Liam Livingstone (36). Earlier, he also hammered 30 from 21 with the bat, a knock which featured three sixes.
