Cricket News sort by England tour of India 2012-13

AT Rayudu has earned his maiden call in the Indian team after he was named as the replacement for the injured Manoj Tiwary. This is a second setback for the stylish Tiwary who suffered from a wrist injury last season.

This is not the way it should be going. This was to have been the series to avenge the humiliation of the 4-0 drubbing that the hosts suffered in England last summer. India, it was believed, had the opportunity to do to England what they had done to them, and Dhoni and his charges were chomping at the bit to get after them in conditions that would be hostile to the visitors.

The much-awaited team selection for the Nagpur Test has finally taken place. And while a few bold changes have been made -- a pleasant surprise –the core of the team still remains the same, which means there is little scope for improvement when India face England in the fourth Test at Nagpur.

Selectors announced the squad for the two T20Is against England to be played on the 20th and 22nd of this month.

Even if India manages to win the fourth and final Test of the series against England at Nagpur, which as of now seems like a miraculous possibility, it will be a loss for India psychologically. After all this was being dubbed as the revenge series.

If at all there was any sense of optimism over the Indian batting coming back to form at one of their favourite venues, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, that has been thrown out of the window following embarrassing batting collapses in both innings of the Test. It is about time now that the selectors realize that the big names in the team are not so big anymore.

If the defeat in Mumbai was embarrassing, India’ performance in Kolkata was equally poor. The loss was a clear indication of the fact that India did not learn any lessons from the loss at Wankhede Stadium.

Despite two back to back humiliating defeats at home against England, Skipper MS Dhoni remains absolutely defiant and is looking to get the team ready for the fourth Test at Nagpur.
