Middlesex Vs West Indies, Tour Match on June 13: West Indies tour of England 2012

The touring West Indies warmed up ahead of the NatWest ODI Series by crushing Middlesex by a heavy margin of 228 runs in a practice One Dayer at Lord’s.

West Indies Wicket Keeper Denesh Ramdin has been fined 20% of his match fees by the ICC for breaching the Players’ Code of Conduct during the Birmingham Test. Ramdin on the fourth day morning had flashed out a paper which read ‘Yea Viv Talk Nah’ immediately after reaching his second Test Century.

England have today named squads for the ODI and the only T20I against West Indies. The only notable change in the English line-up is the comeback of Ian Bell which was possible following the shock retirement of Kevin Pietersen from limited overs cricket.

The third Test between England and West Indies ended in an expected draw at Edgbaston in Birmingham because of the poor weather. The final day’s play was completely washed out by persistent rain and there was not a chance for even a single ball to be bowled.

Perhaps it is because they think it certain that this game will end in a tame draw; or perhaps they feared there would have been more disruptions due to the weather; or maybe it was the ticket prices; £43 is a lot of money in these hard times.

If they didn’t know before, England today found that their back-up pacers were of high quality when they restricted a hard fighting West Indies to 280/8 at stumps. Graham Onions and Tim Bresnan ended with three wickets each, while the pacey Steven Finn had two.

The England-West Indies, 3rd Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham is yet to start as the Second Day’s play was also washed out because of persistent rain. Not a single ball was bowled and the toss is yet to happen and the Test Match is now left with just three days.

West Indies’ leading batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul is doubtful to play in the third and final Test at Birmingham because of a side injury.
