Kolkata Knight Riders had sweet revenge for their defeat against Chennai Super Kings the last time the two teams met with a comfortable victory on Thursday.
One of the stars of the win was Shubman Gill with 57 off 36 balls, and KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik was all praise for the young lad.
“Credit to the management to have taken so many U-19 players. We were a little harsh on Gill earlier, but he’s hit first-ball boundaries in the past too, so he’s been good,” said Dinesh Karthik at the post-match presentation.
“That boy is special. I don’t want to hype it up and put extra pressure on him. I can see a lot of years of India Blues in him,” the KKR captain added.
Karthik also heaped riches on the spin trio of Narine, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla. “I picked it up early, that we can bowl a lot of spin on this wicket. Our bowlers are so confident. They wanted to bowl.
“You need to be pushing boundaries. Narine is a thorough all-rounder. Provides impetus at the top and also bowled the pressure overs. He’s a great player to have in the team,” Karthik went on to add.
