In what was a dud match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, hosts Rajasthan Royals defeated Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets. Needing to chase only 125, the Rajasthan Royals took as many as 19.2 overs to get to the target! The night would have been wrapped up a lot earlier had Shane Watson not been dismissed in the 5th over as the Australian was in good touch scoring 32 from 19 balls with 7 fours.
Rajasthan Royals cruising through at the target at 43 for 1 in the 5th over were pegged back to 79 for 4 by the 13th over with medium pacer Praveen Kumar taking a couple of wickets. Praveen with his lovely outswingers bowled out a superb spell of 4-1-10-2. Opener Ajinkya Rahane with an unbeaten 34* (from 42 balls with 3 fours) along with Wicket Keeper Sanju Samson (27* from 23 balls with 3 fours) took the Royals home without any further inroads.
In the first half, it was an ordinary show from the weak Kings XI Punjab batting unit. The visitors were bowled out with 7 balls remaining in their innings. Sreesanth put them on the backfoot removing the opening batsmen in his first over. After that the Kings XI Punjab team continuously kept on losing wickets to run out of ammunition. All the bowlers chipped in for Rahul Dravid as Kings XI Punjab folded to 124 all out.
