A solid 107-run stand for the 2nd wicket between opener Phil Jacques (73 from 55 balls with 6 fours and a six) and Travis Birt (65 from 41 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes) took the Hurricanes to a healthy total of 169 for 3. For the visitors, fast bowler Brett Lee bowled well conceding only 19 in his 4 overs.
In their run-chase, Sydney Sixers were wrecked completely by Pakistani pacer RanaNaved-ul-Hasan who took 4 for 22. Off Spinner Jason Krejza who opened the bowling took 2 for 20 in his four overs.
